Bar Room brawling aboard Sygtir-1...like professional drunks/Nomads

Once again, let’s meet our main characters. Slightly the worse for the wear after their most recent battle against ‘That Damn Guija…’ and some other Yu Jing chumps. Today's actually a 200 point game, so we're missing a few of the usual suspects (Nomads are usually suspects anyway)

These are the same cast (omitting the deceased/fired) from my last Batrep: https://wotan.warconsole.com/battles/crashprone-vs-solocon41-1496991932

Sygtir-1 the bar.

After their last battle defending La Forga from some horrible Yu Jing jerks. We find our heroes [citation needed] aboard Sygtir-1 valiantly [citation needed] protecting [citation needed] Nomad work crews

Mission: Comms Center at Sygtir-1/barfight…

Initiative! Pan Oceania’s own Joan of Arc seizes the initiative and decides she’s going first. The Nomad forces retreat to their side of the station and watch for Joan’s deployment.

Table Layout: We decided to do something a bit interesting. It already specifies no AD Combat jump (‘cause it’s a space station...parachuting aboard a space station is not recommended per the Concilium Convention...It’s also not very interesting...you just kind of open the parachute and nothing happens)...Regardless! The interesting thing we decided to do is make it a single level all interior map. So no going outside into the cold (and very snowy apparently) vacuum of space. Only indoors for this mission. That said we had to move some antennas around to get things to fit, so they’re not exactly in the grid.

PAN O Deployment

PanO decides on the spread out side of the table so as not to give the big firelane to the Nomads (turns out this fire lane was a bit too big. It really tied the board down. Oh well...live and learn!). Lt. Joan arranges her forces into two main groups her, a hacker, and Auxilia taking up the less defendable right flank (Nomads right...the only true right). On the left she deploys a Bulleteer, Auxilia, and the Guarda de Assalto. For her final deployment she has the glorious and valiant Nomads turn away while she places something mysterious...that is clearly photographed below and is a Spec. order sergeant Forward Observer

For the HVT, Pan O has elected to keep Capt. Chompypants in the bar where there’s lots of firelanes to defend him. Also there’s a tile floor, so if he gets sick (again) they can just hose it out.

Nomad Deployment

Per standard procedure the Moran Masai move to the middle of the field and deploy some Koala’s to gum up the works. Naturally, both for the Spec Sergeant AND the Masai, we completely forgot about the exclusion zone...so there’s that.

Rob the Gecko and Casey the Hacker have a lovely conversation in the armory about their favorite types of fabrics. Surprisingly, Rob is super into linen clothes. It doesn’t wick as well, but it’s still nice and breathable without looking too trashy.

The ever terrifying Capt. Smiles, a Transductor Zond, and Lt. Galeretta post up next to the lockers prepared to move up and secure the bar*

The Nomad LVT is of course the (un)luckiest of all Fusiliers, Angus. He’s currently working on his memoirs while bleeding out in the medbay. Why, you might ask does a slap from Lt. Galeretta cause so much blood loss? Well...it was a crit...as are all attacks against Fusilier Angus.

*by secure the bar we naturally mean secure the alcohol at the bar since the bartender’s left. And by left, I do mean he's bleeding out slightly in the medlab...

Turn 1: Pan O Active Turn

First turn sees the right side Auxilia spend some orders moving up and using the auxbot to eat Koala’s while she secures the first antenna and switches it to Pan O. The auxbot does its job well and eats Heckle and Jeckle dying in the process. Meanwhile the left side Auxilia moves up into position next to the nearest antenna and posts its auxbot to flamethrower anyone who dares enter! Unfortunately Pan O’s very low on orders after having 2 stolen, so they set just about everybody to suppressing fire with a coordinated order

Turn 1: Nomads Active Turn

You can just faintly hear in the distance a very cheerful song playing constantly on repeat inside of a happy faced helmet. There’s nothing that puts a smile on Capt. Smiles face (we assume, as no one yet has seen his face) than an exposed soldier down a long firelane. Smiles moves up and takes a shot at the Guarda De Assalto...who was silly enough not to have taken cover… The Guarda attempts to dodge and fails by 1, meanwhile Capt Smiles nails two shots of DA. The poor Guarda manages to save nothing and after piling on four wounds is removed… Poor guy...he didn’t stand a chance against the happiest psychopath in the Nomad forces…

Rob the Gecko back on Twin Combi’s moves up to guard/raid the bar as well as keep watch down the hallway on another antenna. Galeretta moves up to claim the Nomads first antenna and finally the Nomads take a coordinated order to put the Gecko, the Morans, and the Lt. on suppressive fire.

Turn 2: Pan O Active Turn

Pan O has had a rough time of things this round, without the Guarda, I think their new strategy is to claim as many objectives as possible and then try to retreat out with them still claimed, so they start on the left side Auxilia who manages to fail it’s WIP roll a couple times. Then the right side Auxilia moves up and claims a second Antenna. Right now it’s 2 Pan O antenna’s to Nomads 1. Once again everybody goes on suppressive and the Order Sergeant stays hidden. I realize now it was completely tied down by a Crazy Koala and facing Rob the Gecko in suppressive PLUS Capt Smiles (this will be important later).

Turn 2: Nomads Active Turn

Casey the Alguacile Hacker extraordimediocre dashes up and claims an Antenna, then the left hand Moran Masaii runs up to claim its nearest antenna...and completely fails to...like 3 rolls in a row, impressively fails to...yeah...that was nomad turn 2...Oh and we went back on suppressive fire, especially that Moran Masaii who apparently cannot flip a switch to save his life. Oh and when he moves, he brings a Koala with him...this is important later.

Turn 3: Last Hurrah for Pan O

From bad to worse for PanO. The Sergeant finally shows his dirty face to unload a combi at point blank on our unsuspecting Gecko Rob, who bravely gets hit three times, suffering one wound and then bravely fails his guts roll to cower in the corner...Unfortunately for Pan O they forgot Capt. Smiles was there. MSV2 Intruder Sniper Rifle Capt. Smiles… and the Sergeant goes to unconscious. You’d think with that constant hum of cheerful music, no one would forget when he’s nearby…

Attempting to claim one more antenna, Joan orders up the Bulleteer who manages to tank a koala, then the bulleteer turns its very large spitfire shaped gunsights on Moran Felix at point blank...In the harshest order of the game… Felix is saved from a crit by his mimetism and the bulleteer takes a single shot...and fails the arm roll. After crunching right through a Koala, the ODD remote’s taken out by a stray shot from a Moran! Pure luck! Unfortunately for the badly bloodied Pan O forces there’s not much left for them. They run the Auxilia up and manage to claim an antenna bringing the current total to of antennas to PanO 4 Nomads 2. In bringing the Auxilia up they also shot the Moran...evening out the specialist kills! A pretty impressive effort considering how hamstrung they were with orders

Turn 3: Okay we hurt ‘em but can we pull a win Nomads?

If the game were to end now, Nomads have more kill points by a lot but Pan O has more antennas and has evened up specialist kills. It’s actually 6-3 on total points! So the Nomads need to get to work! The Masaii that’s been hanging out with Fusilier Angus in the medlab moves up and on the first try claims an Antenna, bringing us to 4-3 on Antennas. The he speeds to the next room to claim a second antenna. Makes it on the second try. Nomads have the lead by one point now. Even up on number of Antennas means the scores changed to Nomads 5 Dirty Pan O savages 4. Lastly the Moran lines up and Observes Captain Chompypants (observes him licking himself...not a pretty sight), but it does score the Nomads their Classified for a final 2 points

Final Score:
Antennas activated: Nomads 4 PanO 4 - 2 ea to Nomads and PanO
Specialists killed: Nomads 1 PanO 1 - 2 ea to Nomads and PanO
Army points killed: Nomads > PanO - 1 pt to Nomads
Classified Objectives: Nomads 1 PanO 0 - 2 pt to Nomads
Nomads 7 PanO 4

Despite some rough losses and bad dice on the PanO side they still held their own and nearly made for a victory!
