"All right here's the deal, those damn veggie heads have been causing too much of a ruckus on our ship. It's time to make a mess on their's!"
Zuyong Lieut. Cheong Jae-hyuk swung his arms for emphasis, a tenuous affair considering the dropship hold was crowded with 10 soldiers, four of them fully clad in power armor, and a desk sized remote. Yan Huo Hydra Mammoth uncomfortable as he tried his best not to squish the relatively tiny Keisotsu on either side. The Kuang Shi were stowed in the luggage compartment, thankfully.
Hsien Bullets like Rain, did his best to ignore the inspirational drivel. The Dragon embossed faceplate did a good job of masking his ennui. Most people try not to look too closely at Imperial agents, especially those in full armored regalia. He absently flipped through his playlist and settled on one of his favorite artists.
"What are you listening to?" Queried a private chat.
" The work of an ancient master," he replied. With that, he offered an audio link to the other party. The link was accepted.
...You have to show them that you're really not scared
You're playin' with your life, this ain't no truth or dare
They'll kick you, then they beat you,
Then they'll tell you it's fair...
With his enhanced sences, Rain noticed ninja Komainu Ame, a comrade which he had served with one numberous occassions, begin to sway to the beat. It was almost imperceptible as she checked her rather meager gear. Rain smiled behind his mask.
An urgent message caught his attention. Nomads were on the corvette first. Mission parameters updated to include inflicting as much damage as possible to the troublemakers on top of vandalising the alien ship.
Rain lost himself incoming data stream as he analyzed the new information. Several remixes later, he felt the alien deck below him, as he moved into position toward the rear of the Yu Jing landing zone.
...Gonna tell you right
Just show your face
In broad daylight
I'm telling you...
The Szalamandra dashed into sight, opening up with it's dreaded rapid fire gun. Rain, ducked behind cover, loosing precision shots to drive the TAG back. The Yu Jing counterattack was swift. The Kuang Shi overran the Nomad first contact units, forcing the renegades to try and break line of sight. Mammoth blasted away the Feuerbach remote on overwatch.
Lay it on me
On his tactical display, he saw Tiger Soldier Flare From Above land deep behind enemy lines. She dashed through their lines, dropping a Daktari and Morlock, before scaling the building upon which a Wildcat lay hidden. She braved the gout of flame to drop the enemy soldier with a well aimed burst of fire.
...Well they say the sky's the limit
And to me that's really true
The Nomads pressed forward, hoping to recapture the momentum. Rain saw Cheong forced back behind his perch after an Intruder opened up with his sniper rifle. A Tomcat arrived behind friendly lines, repairing the Tskylon and sending it forward.
...I'm telling you
Just watch your mouth
I know your game
What you're about...
Rain strode forward, great coat flaring through the smoke. His gun spat fire, shredding the Tsyklon for good. He kept going until he got an angle on the intruder. The machine-gun burst dropped the sniper.
...The word is out
You're doin' wrong
Gonna lock you up
Before too long
Your lyin' eyes
Gonna tell you right...
Mammoth went down, having lost his exchange with the Szalamandra. Rain ducked back behind the building, hoping to check the Szalamandra's advance. Seizing the chance, the tomcat popped up from his ledge and opened fire on Rain. The Hsien staggered under the rifle fire, but then steadied his aim and dropped the troublesome engineer. His heart hammered loudly in his ears as he saw the armored titan rush around the central building. His arm felt too heavy, too slow, as the TAG took aim.
Ame appeared almost out of thin air, blade flashing. The Szalamandra's burst went wide and then it was on the defensive, trying to keep the assassin from landing a lethal blow. Feeling returning to his arms, rain unsheathed his own blade and charged.
...But they say the sky's the limit
And to me that's really true
And my friends you have seen nothin'
Just wait 'til I get through...
"Ame! Catching Clouds Formation!"
The ninja deftly moved into position as rain launched a series of unbalancing attacks. The Szalamandra backpedaled until it leaned a little too far to the side. Then Ame leapt upon it, driving her blade deep into the armored carapace. The tag stuttered and seized, and finally silence.... Rain gave a silent nod.
...We can change the world tomorrow
This could be a better place...
"Secure the caches!" Lieut. Cheong yelled.
Rain dashed toward the panoply. His fingers flew across the controls, unlocking it. A brand-new machine-gun fell into his hand.
...And the whole world has to
Answer right now
Just to tell you once again
And then the hammer blow fell across his back. Rain fell, his consciousness lingering only for a few seconds more.
"Rain? Rain?! Rain!!!" The ninja's voice faded into the mists...
